Aussie Pet Mobile Woodlands-Spring Policies

Prior to Arrival: Please make sure your pet has had a restroom break and is easily accessible prior to our arrival. For cats, close off rooms where they may hide. Provide a cat carrier for transport to the pet mobile so the cat doesn’t escape. If you don’t have one, we can provide a cat carrier.

Cancellations: Please give us at least 48 hours’ notice of changes to your appointment. It is difficult to fill last minute cancellations, which results in a complete loss of income for the groomer. A $25 cancellation fee may be assessed if the appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment.

Arrival time: Please give the Groomer a grace period of 30 minutes before and after your scheduled appointment to arrive. We are working with live animals and sometimes they take longer or shorter than we planned. If you are not able to be flexible in your appointment time just let us know before your appointment.

Scheduling: After your appointment is scheduled, we may call to see if you can change your scheduled day or time because we are trying to make a driving route work for everyone or a situation beyond our control has occurred (severe weather, groomer out sick, or severe traffic conditions). If you absolutely are not flexible in your appointment time just let us know your limitations before your appointment.

Rebooking: We prefer our pets stay on a recurring schedule for haircuts or de-shedding according to their coat type and length. This will keep them matt free and help their skin to breath without the excess shedding coat. Also, regular nail trimming prevents discomfort for your pet. We see most of our pets every 4-8 weeks. Imagine a human going that long between deep cleans. We have many pets on a latch key program where after the owner meets and is comfortable with the groomer, the owner need not be home if the pet is accessible and a check is left for payment.

Fleas: If your pet has fleas or ticks please let us know before your appointment so we can schedule your appointment at the end of the day. We want to avoid cross contaminate with other pets and must flea bomb the van after exposure. We recommend you contact your vet to obtain one of the newest flea prescription medications that are working well for this area. There will be a $20 flea contamination fee for live fleas in addition to flea treatment fees if we find fleas on your pet.

Vaccinations: We require all our pets to be vaccinated, especially against Rabies. We require written vaccination documents to show that your pet is current for Rabies vaccinations. We disinfect our pet mobile after each groom. However, we recommend additional vaccinations as suggested by your vet for the prevention of diseases.

Heavy Matting: Brushing matted hair is painful to the pet. We will try and save what we can according to the style you prefer, if possible. To prevent matting and future shave downs, depending on your pet’s coat type and length, we recommend re-booking at a frequency that will keep your pet’s coat in excellent condition. Your groomer will recommend a good schedule for your pet such as every 4-8 weeks. Significant matting over the entire body and or legs may result in additional nonrefundable shave down fees up to $50. Removing heavy matting is risky and can result in minor nicks or abrasions or reveal underlying skin conditions or rashes. Aussie Pet Mobile nor the groomer will not be held liable for these issues. In some severe cases, we may recommend that your pet be seen by a veterinarian.

Difficult pets: We occasionally encounter pets that absolutely refuse to be groomed. It rarely happens but in the event your pet cannot be groomed there is a minimum $50 trip fee.

Skin, Eyes and Ears: Our shampoos are professional grade high quality PH Balanced, environmentally friendly, biodegradable, non-toxic, and hypo-allergenic. Aussie Pet Mobile cannot be held liable for skin, eye or ear irritations that can occur due to shampoo sensitivity or underlying conditions. Despite using care while trimming hair around the eyes, eye irritation can occur if a hair particle enters the eye. Pets may scratch at their eyes with their feet and create further irritation. We cannot be responsible for this type of self-inflicted injury. We clean ears with professional pet ear cleaner. This can reveal underlying ear infections. We cannot be responsible for existing or emerging health issues.

Shave Downs of Double-Coated Dogs: The AKC and many veterinarians recommend against shaving of double-coated dogs such as German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers (see http://www.petguide.com/petcare/dog/what-is-a-double-coated-dog/ for a list). Shave downs reduce the heat tolerance of a dog because the underlying coat helps the skin to breath and cool the dog. Because the skin is exposed, the dog is susceptible to sun burn and more likely to have insect bites. Shedding is not eliminated only the length of the shed fur. In addition, the dog’s coat may not grow back to its original condition. The owner assumes full responsibility for the consequences of any shave down.
